Aspen Pharmacare Australia sought to have greater quality control in their large production batches of tablets and capsules. To achieve this, they needed new tools and equipment to help them minimise waste as well as carry out statistical profiling to enable them to better understand their processes, drive continuous improvement and allow them to evaluate their production performance.

Aspen Australia used the SADE SP140 to weight-sort tablets and capsules between the sizes of 0 and 3 in batch volumes between 500,000 and 1,000,000. The accuracy and speed of the SP140 enabled Aspen Australia to process these large batch sizes efficiently within a GMP environment.

As CI Precision’s SADE SP weight sorters are designed with the ability to be set up and dismantled rapidly and handle a wide range of product shapes and sizes without the need for parts to be exchanged, the SP140 was the ideal unit for Aspen Australia to maximise efficiency. The SP units can also recover over 90% of a failed batch, which helped Aspen Australia minimise waste.  

The SP140 can deliver exceptionally reliable and accurate check weighing as well as provide insightful statistical batch profiling and reporting. This enabled Aspen Australia to achieve optimum batch recoveries and target finer manufacturing tolerances that ultimately drove quality improvements in their production processes.
